Une guitare brisée par Kurt Cobain lors d'un concert au New Jersey vient d'être vendue aux enchères pour 100. 000$. La pièce est la deuxième en ordre de valeur dans les nombreux artefacts de l'ère Nirvana, juste après sa Mosrite Gospel Mark IV vendue aux enchères pour 131.000$ en 2006.
Le vendeur, connu sous le nom de Sluggo, a reçu la guitare des mains de Cobain après le dit concert pendant la première tournée des U.S.A de Nirvana. Le manche et le corps sont retenus par du scotch sur lequel Kurt à écrit quelques mots à l'intention de Sluggo et de sa copine.
Jacob McMurray, responsable de la vente et membre de l' Experience Music Center de Seattle a déclaré qu'il espérait que l'acquéreur laisserait revenir la guitare à Seattle pour l'exposition consacrée à Kurt Cobain prévue par le centre en 2010.
