Serj Tankian dit travailler en ce moment à un nouveau recueil de poésies, qui ferait suite à « Cool Gardens » (2001), en compagnie de l’artiste Roger Kupelian. Mais cette déclaration nous fait penser à autre chose : qu’en est-il de System Of A Down ?

Le chanteur écrit de la poésie, a produit un album solo très intéressant (« Elect The Dead », 2007) et continue ses actions avec Axis of Justice. Daron Malakian et John Dolmayan ne sont plus attachés à Scars On Broadway puisque le groupe a splitté suite à l’annulation de leur tournée américaine fin 2008 (due officiellement à des raisons personnelles). Le bassiste Shavo Odadjian enregistre lui un album avec plusieurs rappeurs du Wu Tang Clan qui devrait sortir en septembre.

Officiellement, System Of A Down n’est pas séparé mais « en pause ». Serj Tankian l’a d’ailleurs de nouveau déclaré lors d’une interview en début d’année: « Je suis honoré d’entendre chaque mois de nouvelles rumeurs à propos du groupe partant en tournée ou se séparant définitivement. Je trouve tout ça vraiment amusant. ».
