Walt Disney a contacté le duo électronique Daft Punk au sujet de leur prochain projet, TR2N, une adaptation modernisée de Tron sorti en 1982. Le groupe français devrait donc composer la B.O. ce ce film.
Daft Punk retrouvera donc à cet occasion le chemin des studios puisque depuis Human After All, le groupe n’a rien produit (on ne parle pas de l’album Alive 2007). Thomas Bangalter et Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo ont monté un nouveau studio pour mener à bien ce projet. Daft Punk avait déjà été travaillé sur un projet similaire puisqu’en 2006, ils ont présenté « Electroma », leur propre film dont ils ont composé la B.O.
